This brother of John Ward's is reported to have served with him in the Revolutionary War, and died while being imprisoned by the British. The death date shown here is unsourced. The only found source for his military service is A HISTORY OF THE TOWN
OF MIDDLEFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS, 1670-1850 Edward Church Smith. Menasha, Wis. Priv. print. 1924. That book does not reference Samuel's death, only that his service and John's is:
"He and his brother Samuel served in the Rev. War as dispatch bearers."
